Doritos Cheeseball

Halloween, Doritos and cheese are a few of my favourite things, so I decided to combine all 3 for the Halloween party we hosted recently!

Typically I would make my Jalapeño Cheeseball, but since I wanted it to look like a pumpkin, I needed something more orange, so off to Pinterest I went and I found this recipe.

It was simple, delicious and a huge hit with my guests!

Here’s what you’ll need to make this Doritos Cheeseball …

Beat the cream cheese until it’s smooth …

Add in the shredded cheddar cheese …

Chop up your onion and jalapeño pepper …

Add them into your mixing bowl …

Next, measure out 1 tsp of cumin and add it into the mixing bowl …

And 1 TBSP of salsa …

 Mix it all together …

Once everything is well blended, add in a few Doritos and blend it all some more …

Chill the cheeseball mixture in the fridge until it is hardened enough to shape into a ball …

Roll the cheeseball in crushed Doritos …

And evenly coat …

Use the jalapeño stem and press it into the top of the cheeseball to make it look like a pumpkin …

Serve with some crackers or tortilla chips and enjoy …

  • 16 oz. cream cheese, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 4 TBSP onion, minced
  • 3 TBSP salsa
  • 3 TBSP ground cumin
  • 2 TBSP jalapeño, minced
  • Pinch of salt and pepper
  • 1 Bag Nacho Cheese Doritos
  • Stem of 1 jalapeño pepper

  • Combine softened cream cheese, cheddar cheese, onion, cumin, jalapeño, salsa, salt and pepper in a small bowl and combine with a hand mixer.
  • Roll into a ball on a piece of plastic wrap and place into the refrigerator for at least 2 hours or the freezer for about 30-40 minutes.
** You may need to place the whole mixture in the fridge to allow it to harden before rolling
  • In a bag or bowl, smash about 2 cups of Doritos into small pieces. Once the cheeseball has hardened, roll into Dorito crumbs and press jalapeño pepper stem into the top of the ball.
  • Serve in the centre of a plate surrounded by crackers or tortilla chips
  • NOTE: You can make this a day in advance, just make sure you refrigerate and then remove to let it soften about 30 minutes before serving. You can also add more or less of any of the ingredients and spices to make the cheeseball fit your taste.

I used this pumpkin-shaped Doritos Cheeseball for a Halloween party (along with this recipe), but it could easily be used as a Thanksgiving appetizer as well.  Or for any other occasion, if you don’t make it look like a pumpkin 🙂
